The Role
This Global 100 firm are looking to recruit a bright and personable Property Dispute Resolution associate to join their impressive London team.
A unique opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly motivated Property Dispute Resolution (“PDR”) Lawyer to join our national, independently rated first class property dispute resolution team.
Based in our London office the successful candidate will have 7+ years' PQE encompassing broad ranging PDR experience.

Recent highlights of our London Team include:
  • Acting for Royal London, the Portman Estate and Grosvenor across their property portfolios in all property litigation matters, including lease renewals, vacant possession strategies, rent reviews, dilapidations, tenant breaches and telecommunications code issues.
  • Acted for Chalegrove Properties in successfully securing an injunction to prevent ongoing trespass to a residential tower in Canary Wharf by urban explorers.
  • Advising Ineos on a successful application under the Mines (Working Facilities and Support) Act 1966 to obtain ancillary rights to allow the client to prospect for shale gas.
Team Background
We boast one of the largest teams of dedicated property dispute resolution lawyers in the UK (comprising 21 E&W lawyers (though we are expanding to seek 3 more roles as well as this one), 7 in Scotland and 3 in Northern Ireland supporting some 330 highly skilled lawyers in our national UK wide property team which was commended by the Times in Best Law Firms 2019. Clients praise us for our commercial approach, providing clear, relevant and timely advice.
The firm organises itself through its sectoral based approach e.g. financial services, energy, infrastructure, real estate and technology, science and industry sectors and the property dispute resolution lawyers align themselves with that approach. The team have specific technical expertise and specialisms and apply these to support their clients in each of these sectors.
The Candidate Required
The successful candidate will ideally have gained specific property disputes experience in a City firm or large regional practice. Candidates must be technically excellent, strategically and commercially astute and committed to excellence in client service with a "can-do" attitude. They should also be ready to become actively involved in business development and in further developing the London PDR team and work across the national PDR team working with all the PDR partners. They will be a team player with a strong client focused approach. They will also have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills. There should be a willingness to take on new and emerging areas of property dispute work and develop expertise in those. .
With experience of handling a broad range of property dispute matters you will be an individual who enjoys resolving problems and disputes, devising strategic solutions for and working closely with clients and applying black letter law where appropriate. The list below shows the range of work the successful candidate should have experience of and must be prepared to embrace new and novel work areas and be prepared to work outside the candidate’s comfort zone
The successful candidate must have proven rights of light experience and should ideally have experience in the following areas:
  • Insolvency and Restructuring
  • Landlord and Tenant Act 1954
  • Litigation Work (experience in court or other litigation tribunals and ADR), development agreement disputes, judicial review and planning disputes
  • Lease Renewals
  • Dilapidations
  • Contractual disputes
  • Possession claims
  • Development constraints (easements, restrictive covenants and the like)
  • Energy and infrastructure related disputes
A role in PDR will provide a varied workload including in the different areas as outlined above and exposure to clients across all sectors within the firm.
