New – Corporate M&A Associate, 1-3 PQE, Leading International Firm, London
The Role
This leading international firm are looking to recruit a bright and personable Corporate M&A associate to join their impressive London team.
We are looking for an Associate to join our highly regarded Corporate team in London, focusing on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-respected team, known for having an entrepreneurial outlook and approach, and work on high value and strategically important projects both nationally and internationally.
The practice
We are a leading legal adviser in the mid-market for mergers, acquisitions and takeovers of publicly listed companies. Our team advises UK and international organisations on all aspects of buying and selling public and private companies and businesses. Many of these transactions are cross-border and span a range of industry sectors.
Our clients include sellers, buyers, financial advisers and institutional sponsors. We provide the full range of services for an M&A transaction and work alongside our lawyers from our specialist multi-disciplinary groups.
We are very active within our chosen sectors and regularly appear on the leading mid-market deals in such sectors. In recent times we have had a particular focus on Tech (AI, Cyber, Fintech, Software and IT Services), Telecoms and Retail in addition to our work in Marketing Services, Energy and Life Sciences.
The work
Example transactions include advising:
  • TalkTalk on its potential £1 billion recommended offer to be acquired via a newly incorporated vehicle to be established for the purpose by funds advised by Toscafund Asset Management.
  • HH Global Group and its management team on its $400million acquisition of InnerWorkings, Inc and an associated equity investment by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities.
  • Foresight Group LLP on an £80 million joint venture investment into a portfolio of biomethane supported Compressed Natural Gas refuelling stations for HGVs.
  • Marlin Equity Partners on the secondary sale of Iptor Supply Chain Systems to Bregal Unternehmerkapital.
  • Party City Holdings, Inc. on (1) the re-organisation and (2) agreement to sell Party City's global business (outside of the Americas) to Endless LLP and (3) on a joint venture for Party City's costume sourcing and manufacturing business in Asia.
  • Jellyfish Group, digital partner to the world's leading brands, as lead counsel on its acquisitions of:
  • San Pancho, a marketing and data analytics specialist based in Mexico and Columbia.
  • Latin American digital media company, Comune S.A. (trading as Reamp) based in Brazil.
  • Australian agency and Google analytics partner, Data Runs Deep Pty, Ltd.
The team
The London Corporate team is made up of 16 Partners, 4 Associate Directors, 10 Senior Associates, 12 Associates, 3 Trainee Solicitors and 2 Paralegals. Spanning all three of our UK based offices, the Corporate department is made up of almost 90 lawyers in total.
Technical skills and experience
The right candidate will have a range of Corporate law experience gained at a firm with a strong reputation in this area. Due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking for an Associate, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.
Your career development
Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:
  • clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
  • high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
  • thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
  • robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and
  • reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.
Salary and benefits
We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
Please do get in touch for a quick confidential chat about the position if it sounds of interest. We are happy to answer any questions you might have and provide the name of the firm, job specs, salary info etc. If you aren't actively looking we are always happy to have a chat about the market.
