We are looking for a Construction lawyer to join the team to work on a variety of construction matters. This will focus predominantly on contentious matters.
You will handle your own matters (with supervision) and assist the Partners on more complex matters. Most of our larger matters involve working in a team of a number of Associates and as a Managing Associate you will be supervising and developing more junior associates. This is a high performing, cohesive, busy and fun team with excellent prospects for career development and a fantastic array of clients.

  • The ability to actively support complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed.
  • The ability to contribute to the general upkeep of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally).
  • A proven record of a high standard of client care for existing clients at the highest level.
  • The enthusiasm to market to clients.
  • Displays a knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice and has experience of and/or an appetite to do some contentious work as needed.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent.
  • Contentious construction experience gained within a quality environment likely but not exclusively to be within a large or mid-tier firm
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Proven team working abilities
The Group
The Real Estate Division is one of our largest, comprising a team in excess of 250. Within Construction nationally, there are 16 partners and 65 other fee earners.
The work of the group is hugely varied and includes Development, Energy, Social and Economic Infrastructure, PFI/PPP and Water and Utilities. Projects and advice cover the whole range of construction, engineering and procurement issues across both public and private sectors. We are experts in dispute resolution and have successfully managed some of the largest disputes in the sector. We currently have many international arbitrations ongoing, significant cases in the TCC and have huge experience in adjudication.
Please do get in touch for a quick confidential chat about the position if it sounds of interest. We are happy to answer any questions you might have and provide the name of the firm, job specs, salary info etc. If you aren't actively looking we are always happy to have a chat about the market.
