The team is looking to hire an Associate with 1-6 years PQE to handle an exciting caseload of non-contentious work. This role will suit a confident and enthusiastic individual who is committed to providing the best and most efficient possible service to clients.
The department
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly ranked leading IP, IT and Commercial team in London (Legal 500 & Chambers rated).
The team have an extensive transactional IP practice and advise on all types of agreements which focus on IP or have a strong IP element including patent, know how, trade mark and copyright licences (both in- and out- licensing), collaboration agreements (including framework collaboration agreements) and research and development agreements. In addition, they handle large-scale acquisitions and disposals of IP assets. Clients range from small and medium sized businesses to larger PLCs and include a number of public sector and charitable institutions, in each case across a broad range of industry sectors, such as IT, chemicals, manufacturing, publishing and retail.
The award winning life sciences practice provides extensive legal, scientific and industry specific insights to its medical device, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.
The team have a substantial international trade mark practice, managing the portfolios of major brand owners from a global US aerospace company to entrepreneurs.
The team’s understanding of IT and telecommunications contracts goes significantly beyond the drafting and negotiation of legal terms and conditions, and they offer many years of experience 'under the bonnet' of project negotiations and strategy, enabling them to act astutely and effectively.
Duties will involve:

Essential and desirable criteria:
Successful applicants will have current experience, ideally within a law firm in the commercial sector.
Knowledge of and familiarity with commercial law and a genuine enthusiasm for the subject.
Highly IT literate, confident user of MS Office and legal and business information systems with experience of SharePoint or similar platforms.
Comfortable working under pressure with the ability to plan and prioritise work and deliver to tight or changing deadlines whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.
A proactive and collaborative team member with a professional, user-focused approach.
Facilitates and manages change.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills, understands the need to work in partnership with lawyers and support staff, for the benefit of clients.
